Marutama Ra-Men, Singapore ★★★☆☆☆
I am not a ramen fan as I can't eat too much MSG and ramen normally have a lot of them in the soup broth. MSG gives me a terrible headache! Anyone suffer the same aftermath as me? But yesterday I went to Suntec Marutama Ra-Men for lunch with some friends. This is the first time I tried their Suntec branch. I have only been to the Liang Court branch once with a friend and I remembered that their ramen left me a good impression as it tasted yummy and it didn't give me a headache after eating it.
I tried their Aka Ramen (7 kinds of ground nuts with chicken soup), it comes with 3 meatballs and I added on Tomago (half boiled seasoned egg) and the charsiu. The soup broth is mild spicy and thick, ramen is chewy and the Tomago is just so good (with runny egg yolk inside that burst out into your mouth when you bite into it)...I wonder how they cook the egg till it is still runny inside?? Anyone know how to do it, please teach me!!
My Verdict:
Good authentic Japanese ramen at a reasonable price. Must try the Yaki Charsiu (Grilled Charsiu), the topping Charsiu and Tomago. No memorable service staffs (almost non-existence service) and you have to pay at the cashier. Average price per person is around $20++. I would recommend this place for causal friends and family gatherings.

The Yaki Charsiu (Grilled Charsiu) and the topping Charsiu are my favorite dishes from this place. Although they are a little fatty, but these fats give the meat a melt in the mouth texture....yummy......
Kakuni, Pork Belly stewed in special sauce. This dish is not too bad but I think that it can be slightly more flavorful and soft. Not my cup of tea though, and I won't be ordering it again....
